UICOMP
The University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria (UICOMP) opened its doors in 1970 in an effort to expand medical education opportunities throughout Illinois. The Peoria campus – one of three that comprise the nation’s largest medical school – is also active in basic science and clinical research. Its faculty, residents and fellows contribute greatly to providing outstanding patient care in the region.
Programs at UICOMP
As an institution of academic medicine, UICOMP elevates healthcare in the Greater Peoria region. Its 250 full-time faculty in addition to 1,300+ part-time and volunteer faculty provide care for 45,000+ patients annually while educating, training, and mentoring the next generation of physicians. Additionally, its alignment as R01 institution with the National Institutes of Health provides the foundation for excellence in research. UICOMP’s Centers of Excellence provides expertise and focused effort surrounding specific community and population health needs, including Center for Healthy Development and Aging, Center for Wellbeing and Center 4 Health Research.
